What to Expect When Undergoing Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy

canstockphoto11351123Platelet rich plasma therapy, commonly known as PRP, is an exciting and revolutionary new method for treating a variety of health problems, only some of which include: arthritis and injuries of the shoulder, hip, knee, spine, rotator cuff, along with ligament sprains and injury, back and neck injury, tendonitis, tennis elbow, ankle sprains and many others.

Muscles are made of collagen fibers, and when an injury occurs, these fibers are torn or at least overstretched and as a response, our body increases the blood flow in the injured area in order to support the healing process. This responsive reaction is a natural process aimed at delivering platelet cells, rich in growth factors and other important elements that initiate the repair and regenerative process.
When opting for PRP therapy, you should expect your physicians to harvest a sample of blood which is then passed through a centrifuge that spins the blood at super high speeds to ultimately generate the platelets and growth factors needed for your particular case. Consider the result to be a special concentrated fluid, most commonly referred to as platelet rich plasma.
To increase the efficiency of the entire procedure, physicians use an ultrasounCompetitions on powerliftingd machine or MRI to identify the specific problem area, and then inject this new fluid into and around the injured area. Once they make contact with damaged fibers, the platelets activate themselves and start the healing process.
While doing so, they also attract other important healing factors, and, as a result, our body strengthens its natural healing capacity. Since the plasma is not tampered and your own blood is used, there is absolutely minimal risk of allergy, infection or other adverse reactions to this type of therapy. And, as technical and complex as the process may sound, the body is in fact healing itself naturally when stem cell therapy is used.
Including the preparation and recovery time, the entire procedure takes roughly Baseball Playerup to two hours. PRP therapies are performed only in specialized medical offices, under close supervision of specially trained physicians. Depending on type of injury and your body’s healing capacity, the PRP therapy can last up to 6 months, with a total of three injections performed three to four weeks apart.
Results vary from case to case, but considerable results are seen even after the first or second injection for most patients which is why this type of therapy has become so popular in the world of sports and celebrities with busy schedules who need fast and effective results.
PRP therapy is great because it doesn’t involve any surgery, pain, anesthesia, or hospital time and the recovery period is minimal. In most cases, patients are able to return to their daily activities and normal life within a couple days after the procedure is completed, making it not only appealing to celebrities but anyone who wants relief from pain and improved mobility without a major disruption to their schedule.
